FLOS has always collaborated with internationally renowned designers starting with the Castiglioni brothers and followed by Philippe Starck, Jasper Morrison, Antonio Citterio, Marcel Wanders, Paolo Rizzatto and many more. These collaborations have produced an incredibly strong reputation of FLOS being on the forefront in contemporary lighting design. Of course the result has also been multiple awards world-wide from the prestigious Compasso d′Oro, to the Red Dot Award.
Paolo Rizzatto (Milan, 1941) graduated in 1965 with a degree in architecture. He works free-lance out of his studio in Milan. He has also lectured at many prestigious institutions, among others Columbia University (New York), Politecnico di Milano (Milan and Architecture Institute (Moscow) and the IUAV in Venice Over the years he has designed products for a large array of companies around the world, Flos, Artemide, Luceplan, Mandarina Duck, Thonet to name a few. His works can be found in the permanent collections of major museums like Museum of Modern Art in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Museo della Scienza e della Tecnica in Milan.
In 1978 Rizzato founded the lighting company Luceplan with partners Ricardo Sarfatti and Sandra Severi.
