Foscarini Le Soleil

The incredible Soleil pendant from Foscarini was designed by Spanish designer Vicente Garcia Jimenez. I spotted two of them in a restaurant in London and had to run in and take some photos. My kind of sight-seeing.

For a while I was wondering why it got its name, Le Soleil (the sun), but finally I found the solution.

“The sun shows us things, but we cannot look at it directly: it must be screened and filtered. Vicente's musings on this led him to the creation of a lamp in which direct and indirect light create an extraordinary effect, a soft warm glow suspended in the air like the sun...” - Foscarini
