Watch the Northern Lights From Your Bed
THIS is where I’d love to spend the next Holidays: Right in Santa’s back yard!!The Finnish Arctic Resort Kakslauttanen allows you to enjoy the Northern Lights from your bed. Each of the glass geodesic domes is created from a highly effective thermal that prevents ice buildup on the outside as well as condensation on the inside in spite of the considerate temperature differences.
The main Aurora Borealis season between August and April offers the best chance of witnessing this extraordinary natural phenomenon. For the not-so-faint-at-heart Kakslauttanen also offers snow igloos! Though well insulated the temps stay below freezing, so lots of layers and down is recommended! Brings back memories of snow camping in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. Tried it once as a ski patroller and even the memories make me shiver.
If we go to Kakslauttanen we’ll definitely not be roughing it, but will make reservations for one of the glass igloos.
